Town Centre expansion to unveil on Thursday 26th November 2009.![]() The new concept Harris Scarfe store is now open. The exciting vision for the Point Cook Town Centre continues to unfold as Stage Two officially comes to fruition, growing the Centre’s retail offer to more than 130 stores. Created by VicUrban and Walker Corporation at a cost of $150 million, the Town Centre encapsulates ‘main street’ shopping with a strong village atmosphere. Street-side strip shopping and undercover walkways create an engaging environment with lively pedestrian spaces that foster a strong connection between stores and streetscape. The sense of a community is now further enhanced with the inclusion of a purpose-built town square including outdoor seating and public entertainment space. Demonstrating high levels of social amenity, the centre provides a focal point for commercial and community infrastructure for the rapidly developing residential area. Servicing more than 60,000 households in Wyndham, it’s the largest retail development in the area. The Wyndham municipality is forecast to grow at 5% p.a. and a population of more than 137,000 people live within a 10-minute drive of the centre. Furthermore there are five new families moving into Wyndham every week! This new Stage 2 precinct has more than 40 specialty retail stores, a new concept Harris Scarfe department store, Best ‘n’ Less, Rebel Sport and Terry White Pharmacy. There are more on-street retail and alfresco dining options, a food court with more than 400 seats and an additional 400 car spaces, including 200 undercover car parks and the provision of a dedicated car wash facility. Mirroring the contemporary, light-filled spaces created in Stage One, the Centre’s food court has the unique Theobroma Chocolate Lounge, well-known Nando’s family restaurant, Muffin Break and Fancy Fillings — all offering a range of delicious lunchtime fare. International flavours abound and include the likes of tasty Turkish kebabs, Asian noodles, Japanese sushi, ice-cream bar, Mexican and Italian cuisine, a Burger Bar and traditional fish ‘n’ chips. Shopping for fashion will never be easier, with the opening of both national chain and independent boutiques, such as Edge Clothing, Mirage women’s wear, Bird of Prey women’s fashion, Traffic Footwear, Lorna Jane Active Wear, Riki Nathan women’s wear, Hizz mens wear and Pea In A Pod maternity wear. For the past year, the Point Cook Town Centre has been anchored by retail giants Coles, Target and Aldi, along with large format stores such as The Harvest Store, Provincial Home Living, Fenix Fitness Health Club, The Reject Shop and a Best Friends Pets Superstore. These are complemented by more than 90 specialty retail stores with an eclectic mix of fashion, homewares, accessories, the best in fresh food, dining options and a range of personal services. Dedicated community facilities include Giant Leaps Childcare Centre, Point Cook Superclinic Medical Centre, and the Point Cook Community Learning Centre comprising public library facilities, community learning rooms, occasional care facilities, toy library, community kitchen, kindergarten and, maternal and child health consulting rooms. Point Cook Town Centre has achieved the perfect blend of Melbourne city alfresco dining and coffee culture meeting conventional suburban shopping, with an intoxicating ambience all its own. |
